What religion is F. Murray Abraham?

American actor F. Murray Abraham was born Murray Abraham on October 24, 1939.

He is well-known for his appearances on stage and television, but he first gained notoriety for his celebrated main role as Antonio Salieri in the drama film Amadeus (1984).

With this he received nominations for the BAFTA Award and the Academy Award for Best Actor.

He also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama.

In the play Man in the Glass Booth from 1968, Abraham made his Broadway debut.

For his appearances in William Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice (2011) and Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya (1984), he was honored with the Obie Award for Outstanding Performance.

In 2014’s production of Terrence McNally’s comedy It’s Only a Play, he made a triumphant return to Broadway.

Murray is a Christian. He grew up as an Orthodox believer and was an altar boy.

He still loves the Society of Friends, the Quakers and attended their meetings for almost fifteen years.
