The Economic Fighters League (EFL) has lauded Nana Kwame Bediako, a presidential hopeful and head of the New Force, for his proposition to implement a single African currency.
he initiative, unveiled during an appearance on Starr Chat with Bola Ray on April 19, 2024, aims to foster unity among African nations and elevate their economic independence.
In a press release endorsed by Amodani Gariba from the Office of the Fighter-General, the EFL applauded Bediako’s vision, affirming that a currency utilized by 1.5 billion people would carry more significance than one utilized by a mere 30 million. The organization perceives this step as crucial in severing ties with Western economic supremacy and attaining economic liberation.
Renowned for its pan-Africanist ideology, the league has consistently championed for economic autonomy in Ghana and beyond. They view Bediako’s proposition as a pivotal stride towards a cohesive Africa liberated from the grips of neo-colonialism and external economic exploitation.
Additionally, the EFL commended the recent decision by Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger to discard the French-administered CFA franc, a colonial remnant, and urged other African countries to follow suit with similarly audacious measures.
“Realizing a single African currency necessitates a change in mindset among African leaders, with some potentially necessitating replacement for progress to be actualized,” they emphasized.
The organization emphasized that “deeply-rooted political elites, such as Ghana’s NPP and NDC, must be displaced to facilitate authentic transformation.” As Ghana’s pivotal December 2024 elections draw near, the Fighters urged voters to shun the duopoly and embrace alternative parties, underscoring the prospect for rejuvenation and renaissance.
