Kofi Amoabeng, the former CEO of UT Bank, has expressed concerns about the rising tensions surrounding Ghana’s political processes leading up to the December 7, 2024, general elections.
The retired captain is worried that the pockets of violence could escalate into political unrest if not addressed properly.
During an interview with JoyNews in Accra, Amoabeng highlighted his fears about a potential political crisis if one party tries to manipulate the election results. He emphasized that the NPP may face challenges if there is a clear win for the NDC and they resort to using money and influence to rig the results.
Amoabeng urged Ghanaians to pray for a peaceful election process and for the country to choose a new leader without any conflicts. He emphasized the importance of peace, stating that it is better to have a difficult situation than to be at war.
While acknowledging the instances of violence during the voter registration exercise, Amoabeng remains hopeful that the situation will not escalate further. He called on political parties and citizens to act responsibly and ensure that the right procedures are followed.
In addition, Amoabeng encouraged everyone to keep their faith in God and to continue working hard for peace. He stressed the importance of prayer and perseverance in the face of hardships, reminding Ghanaians that they must remain proactive in striving for a peaceful and prosperous future.
