Henry Dargan McMaster, an American lawyer and politician who was born on May 27, 1947, has served as South Carolina’s 117th governor since 2017. McMaster was born in Columbia, South Carolina. He is the oldest child of John Gregg and Ida Dargan (Pet) McMaster. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of South Carolina in 1969 and was a member of the fraternity Kappa Alpha Order.
