The plant, with a capacity of fifteen megawatts peak (15MWp), is a significant step towards Ghana’s renewable energy goals.

During the ceremony, President Akufo-Addo emphasized the importance of renewable energy in driving economic growth, combating climate change, and ensuring energy security for all citizens.

He commended the efforts of stakeholders, including the Nadowli-Kaleo traditional area, the German Government, the Volta River Authority (VRA), and project contractors, for their contributions to the project’s success.

The President highlighted the strategic importance of Kaleo in renewable energy development, citing its natural resources and potential to attract investments and promote innovation.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting green investments, energy efficiency, and the development of solar, wind, and hydroelectric power projects.

The addition of phase two of the Kaleo Solar Power Plant will not only provide clean energy to the national grid but also improve the quality of power supply in the Upper West Region.
