McPhilix Foods Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Felix Awutu, shared an emotional story about how he got burnt and lost everything just three months after starting his plantain chips business.

Speaking at the launch of Plantain Festival earlier today, Mr. Awutu reflected on some struggles he had to overcome during his early days as a young entrepreneur with a dream in Ghana. According to the CEO, the business he started in 2015 encountered a lot of setbacks that nearly broke and discouraged him from pushing further.

A particular story he shared was on how he mistakenly interchanged a gas tube which eventually sparked a fire outbreak, resulting in the whole shop getting burnt down as he suffered several burns too.

He took the opportunity to appreciate and praise his wife and better half, Mrs. Priscilla Awutu as the brain child and power house behind the plantain festival initiative which seeks to celebrate all stake holders within the food chain and offer a platform to the farmers especially whose hard work make it possible for plantain to be a constant commodity in our markets.

Media personality, Nana Ama McBrown who was also present at the occasion, made some time to address the media. In her address, the screen goddess encouraged Ghanaians to patronize food products from McPhilix Foods as a way of empowering local businesses to compete with international brands on the market.

The colorful event witnessed a cultural performance from the Abibigroma Cultural troupe, a documentary that highlighted the importance of plantain in our markets and an announcement of the comprehensive line up of activities for November 21st, the day of the Plantain Festival.

Ghanaian musicians, Cina Soul, Mr Drew and Nii Funny are some of the artistes who have been billed to perform on the night of the festival.
