Head of the Department of Research at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Accra, Ghana, Dr. Emmanuel Kwesi Anning yesterday June 27 got the bashing of a lifetime on Twitter.

The backlash came after the Doctor said he took a video of a group of policemen whom he assumed were drunk because they were having the time of their lives by dancing in a choreographed form to live band music at a concert.

Dr. Anning in a caption to the video said he could tell the policemen “were in uniform, and obviously drunk” and that he had sent the video to the highest command in the Ghana Police Service, but nothing was done about it yet.

He then sent the video to Accra based radio station Joy Fm who subsequently posted it to their Twitter page.

To say Ghanaians reaction – to the suggestion that the police were drunk (which by looking at the orderly way they danced, was not true) and that they are punished for having a good time when clearly off-duty – was brutal would be an understatement.

Various Twitter users took to the reply section to absolutely slam Dr. Emmanuel Kwesi Aning.

Here are some reactions to the post by Ghanaians on twitter.

Nobody is safe on Ghana Twitter apparently.

But we must say, those were some sleek moves by the Police officers.
