Head of the Department of Research at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Accra, Ghana, Dr. Emmanuel Kwesi Anning yesterday June 27 got the bashing of a lifetime on Twitter.
The backlash came after the Doctor said he took a video of a group of policemen whom he assumed were drunk because they were having the time of their lives by dancing in a choreographed form to live band music at a concert.
Dr. Anning in a caption to the video said he could tell the policemen “were in uniform, and obviously drunk” and that he had sent the video to the highest command in the Ghana Police Service, but nothing was done about it yet.
He then sent the video to Accra based radio station Joy Fm who subsequently posted it to their Twitter page.
I took this video of policemen in uniform, obviously drunk. I sent it to the highest in the police service, and nothing was done. – Dr. Aning #JoySMS pic.twitter.com/bLjW78Bvs6

To say Ghanaians reaction – to the suggestion that the police were drunk (which by looking at the orderly way they danced, was not true) and that they are punished for having a good time when clearly off-duty – was brutal would be an understatement.
Various Twitter users took to the reply section to absolutely slam Dr. Emmanuel Kwesi Aning.
Here are some reactions to the post by Ghanaians on twitter.
what do you want then to do? Ghana media is always exposing our bad side to the world. Fake people.

I have said it countless times that this Dr Aning man has nothing of sensible value to say. He is just interested in being heard on radio. How can you report police officers having a bit of fun? All over the world there are time officers of the law dance in public.nothing wrong

But what’s wrong with the Police dancing in the street? I’ve seen Police in western jurisdictions fraternising with citizens and dancing with them at carnivals. Also how can u tell they are drunk from this video? This isn’t news imo

Nobody is safe on Ghana Twitter apparently.
But we must say, those were some sleek moves by the Police officers.
