Game of Thrones is an HBO fantasy drama television series developed by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. It is based on George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire trilogy, the first of which is A Game of Thrones. The show was shot in the United Kingdom, Canada, Croatia, Iceland, Malta, Morocco, and Spain. It started on HBO in the United States on April 17, 2011, and concluded on May 19, 2019, with 73 episodes shown across eight seasons.

Why did Daenerys Targaryen go to Dragonstone in ‘Game of Thrones’?
The name “Dragonstone” relates to both the castle and the island on which it is located in Blackwater Bay. It began as a Valyrian outpost, but the Targaryens made Dragonstone their permanent home after fleeing Valyria after the Doom, the tragedy that devastated it. They erected their imposing castle utilizing Valyrian stonemasonry skills, which not only made it visually distinct from the rest of Westeros but also made it difficult to breach.
The island’s remoteness and the construction of the castle made it nearly impossible to capture Dragonstone in battle, providing its Targaryen kings with tremendous security. The combination of this and the dragons reinforced their authority. Aegon the Conqueror was able to take over Westeros thanks to Dragonstone.
Dragonstone remained under Targaryen’s dominion until Robert’s Rebellion. It was here that Daenerys was born when her mother Rhaella sought safety during the battle. Dany and her brother Viserys were exiled to the Free Cities after Rhaella died in childbirth, and the castle eventually fell. Robert Baratheon gave Dragonstone to his brother Stannis, who kept it until his death.
Daenerys reclaiming her Dragonstone culminated years of planning and dreaming on her part. It was the first step in conquering the country and reclaiming the throne, which Dany saw as her birthright. It was a significant step, but it is only the beginning.
Why is Dragonstone important?
Dragonstone called after the thousands of stone dragon sculptures that adorn its castle, is the Targaryens’ ancestral seat and the birthplace of Daenerys. It could also be the deciding factor in defeating the White Walkers.
