A member of the communications team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and private legal practitioner, Kingsley Amoakwa-Boadu, has refuted allegations by the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia are involved in corruption.
During a recent TV3 program, Sammy Gyamfi accused President Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia of corruption, specifically highlighting the case of former Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
In response, Kingsley Amoakwa-Boadu stated that it is untrue that President Akufo-Addo has shielded corrupt officials and questioned if former President John Dramani Mahama should also be held accountable for past issues during his tenure.
Amoakwa-Boadu emphasized that the 2024 election will be a choice between a first-time presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP, and former President John Dramani Mahama who served one term in office. He believes that Dr Bawumia, if elected, will have a longer time to implement his vision for the country compared to Mahama.
The conversation also touched upon the Office of the Attorney-General’s advice to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) regarding the investigation into money laundering allegations against Cecilia Dapaah. The Attorney-General’s office highlighted that the OSP did not provide a comprehensive report on the investigation to EOCO, leading to delays in the process.
