Kai Cenat, an American YouTuber and streamer, has been in the news a lot since arriving in Nigeria last weekend.

The content producer revealed on his livestream that, during one of his visits in Lagos, he gave $5,000 to a stranger without realizing he had just made the recipient a millionaire.

The Nigerian comic Adesokan ‘Shank Comics’ Emmanuel, who has been the 22-year-old’s tour guide in Lagos, computed that the amount of the donation was ₦8 million, which shocked the young guy.

The post on Twitter is in the link below:

His Nigerian supporters greeted Cenat and his brother Fanum with great affection at the airport on March 9, 2024.

With a lively group of singers and drummers, Shank welcomed them, and the viral video of Cenat grooving to the music captured the interest of many. Funny enough, Shank gave him the moniker Femi Omo Werey shortly after, and ever since then, he has been taking him about the city.

Cenat was enthusiastic about trying Nigerian food for the first time in the video that he posted to YouTube. He adored the amala, gbegiri, and ewedu—three typical Yoruba delicacies—that Shank took him to enjoy at a nearby buka place!

When Cenat arrived in Lagos, one of his goals was to ensure that he gave back to the community, especially to Makoko, which is one of the poorest slums in Nigeria.

Kai Cenat said “I’ve been wanting to come here and now that I’m finally here, the first thing I want to do is immediately and quickly give back. I have a large Nigerian support base and I came across a place called Makoko I did my research on it and I thought it’d be good to give the people what they need. I need to get that done ASAP before I do anything else.”
