Today, about 1,300 delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the La Dade-Kotopon Constituency are participating in a parliamentary primary to select their party’s candidate for the upcoming December 7 election.

The delegates have a choice between Joseph Addo, who serves as President Akufo-Addo’s personal driver, and Solomon Kotey Nikoi, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area.

This primary comes after the resignation of Dr. Gerald Joseph Tetteh, the originally elected parliamentary candidate for the party, citing personal reasons. The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party granted clearance for this primary to take place.

The primary was rescheduled from its original date of January 27, which was when the general primaries were held. The party has taken necessary steps to ensure a smooth and transparent process for the delegates.

In a press release dated April 19, 2024, the NPP outlined resolutions made by the National Executive Committee for various constituencies, including the La Dade-Kotopon Constituency, in response to resignations and other circumstances.

This primary will determine the successor to represent the NPP in the La Dade-Kotopon Constituency in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
