Accra Court Remands Supervisor for Allegedly Stabbing Businessman with Broken Bottle and Screwdriver
A supervisor has been remanded into police custody by the Accra Circuit Court Three for allegedly stabbing a businessman with a broken bottle and a screwdriver.
The accused, Samuel Nii Duodoo, denied causing harm to Mr. Isaac Kwadwo Asare and is set to appear in Court on May 7, 2024.
According to Police Chief Inspector Christine Bansah, the incident stemmed from a longstanding dispute between the complainant and the accused over renting an apartment. The altercation escalated when the accused allegedly threatened to harm the complainant.
On April 5, 2024, the accused reportedly assaulted the complainant at a nearby house, leading to a physical confrontation. Later that same day, the accused pursued the complainant to a drinking spot and attacked him again, this time using a broken beer bottle to inflict multiple wounds and a screwdriver to stab him in the stomach.
The complainant was rushed to the James Town Police Station for medical attention, where he received a Police Medical report form for further treatment. The accused was apprehended by bystanders and handed over to the authorities for investigation.
During questioning, Duodoo reportedly confessed to the offense. Following a thorough investigation, the accused was brought before the Court for arraignment.
This disturbing incident serves as a reminder of the importance of resolving conflicts peacefully and avoiding resorting to violence. The Court will continue to oversee the case as justice is sought for the victim.
