The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah has denied allegations of the party buying votes with state resources.

This response comes after the campaign coordinator for a former NPP Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, who is now running as an independent candidate in the by-election, claimed that the NPP is planning to secure victory through nefarious tactics.

Isaac Boafo, the campaign coordinator, mentioned actions such as ballot stuffing, bribing Electoral Commission officials, employing military personnel to intimidate Aduomi’s supporters, and engaging in vote-buying as part of the alleged nefarious strategies.

However, Richard Ahiagbah pointed out that these claims are baseless and tactics often used by opposition parties to tarnish the image of their opponents.

He questioned the lack of evidence to support the claims and emphasized that the accusations are disrespectful to the people of Ejisu who will make their decision at the polls.

Ahiagbah challenged Aduomi’s campaign coordinator to provide proof of individuals being paid to vote for the NPP, highlighting the importance of respecting the electorate’s decision-making process.

He concluded by suggesting that Aduomi is resorting to fabrications and sensationalism to gain attention and relevance in the lead-up to the by-election.
