According to her attorney, Vanessa Bryant will contribute the earnings of her multi-million dollar verdict against Los Angeles County to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation, a foundation named in her husband’s and daughter’s memory.
Bryant received $16 million as part of a $31 million jury judgement after deputies and firemen shared graphic photographs of the NBA star, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and other victims killed in a helicopter accident in Calabasas in 2020.
In a statement, her lawyer stated that she intends to contribute the earnings to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation in order to “shed a light on Kobe and Gigi’s legacy.”
The Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation is a non-profit organisation that provides sports education and mentorship to impoverished athletes. The organisation was renamed in 2020 to remember the Bryants’ 13-year-old basketball-playing daughter, Gianna, who perished with her father in the January 2020 helicopter disaster that precipitated the lawsuit against the county.
