As a result of watching Royce Gracie compete at UFC 2: No Way Out in 1994, Rogan developed an interest in jiu-jitsu. He started learning Brazilian jiu-jitsu in 1996 at Carlson Gracie’s academy in Hollywood, California. He holds black belts in both gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Jean Jacques Machado and Eddie Bravo’s 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu, a kind of no-gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu[86].
He began working as an interviewer and colour analyst for the UFC in 1997. He presented the game programme Fear Factor from 2001 to 2006 and produced his debut comedy special, I’m Gonna Be Dead Someday…, in 2000.
