President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has made it known that he does not intend to pass the torch to former President John Dramani Mahama after the upcoming December 7 elections.
In a recent visit to Wa, President Akufo-Addo expressed his gratitude to the chiefs and residents for their consistent support during his tenure.
He also revealed his plan to return to the region with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP flagbearer, whom he sees as his successor.
Before the elections take place, Akufo-Addo promised to bid a proper farewell to the people of Wa and expressed his appreciation for their cooperation during his presidency.
He emphasized that he does not envision transferring power to John Dramani Mahama, whom he defeated in the past.
Speaking to Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, the paramount chief of the Waala traditional area, President Akufo-Addo stated, “Wa Naa, you know that the man I removed from the seat, I cannot have him as my successor…”
As a nation recognized for its democratic principles in Africa, President Akufo-Addo urged for unity and support to uphold peace and stability before, during, and after the elections.
Despite his stance on succession, he assured his unwavering commitment to ensuring a peaceful electoral process.
