The Lebanese Community in Ghana has extended its support to students at the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) by awarding scholarships to 21 students.

This new scholarship package covers the full fees of the beneficiaries, totaling an impressive GH¢100,362.35.

This initiative marks a significant expansion in the scheme, following 10 years of the Lebanese Community’s support for journalism students at the university.

The beneficiaries of this extension come from the Fine Arts (Film and Television), Communications (Public Relations), and Translation faculties at UniMAC.

The ceremony was attended by esteemed guests, including the Lebanese Ambassador, Maher Kheir, the Vice Chancellor of UniMAC, Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah, Deans of various Faculties, Senior staff members of UniMAC, and a representative of the Lebanese Committee, Naaman Ashkar.

During the event, scholarships were awarded to four post-graduates, 12 undergraduate journalism students, two Public Relations students, two Film & Television students, and one Translation student.

Ambassador Maher Kheir emphasized the importance of nurturing talent and creativity in these vital fields while promoting justice, equality, and socio-cultural integration.

He challenged the beneficiaries to excel in their chosen fields and use their skills for the greater good, advocating for truth, justice, and equality.

Vice Chancellor Professor Mensah expressed gratitude to the Lebanese Embassy and Community for their continuous support, noting the significant contribution to education in Ghana.

The scholarship forms part of the Lebanese Community’s extensive support for education, covering various disciplines including Journalism, Law, Languages, Performing Arts, Film and Television, Public Relations, and Translation fields.

The beneficiaries were urged to uphold the values of UniMAC and contribute positively to society through their knowledge and skills.

In conclusion, a beneficiary, Brilliance Afrane Boakyewaa, assured the donors that the investment made in them would yield valuable fruit to academia and society. The event culminated in a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate the special occasion.
