Among the individuals present at the funeral rite of the late Atsu is the Ghanaian politician who happens to be the founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Akua Donkor. She was present at the funeral rite to mourn and pay her last respect to the late footballer.
In an act to pay her tribute to the late footballer, she sent a word of advice to all Ghanaian especially footballers asking them to stop travelling overseas to play football and rather embrace the local league here in Ghana.
“… We are all mourning the death of our very own, but we should all leave it to God, it has already happened,” Akua Donkor said.
“I’m pleading with all Ghanaians to stay here and be happy doing everything here in Ghana and it will help us. Currently, we’ve lost an asset and since we don’t want that to happen again, we should quit travelling overseas because your mother, I’m here to save you all.”
She went on to add that Ghanaian footballers should embrace our local leagues.
“Ghanaian footballers should play football here in Ghana and that will help us.” Akua Donkor added.
