Akufo-Addo, John Mahama and Bawumia exchange pleasantries at Christian Atsu’s funeral

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akuffo-Addo Dankwah Addo was spotted at the ongoing final funeral rite of the late Black Star player Christian Atsu Twasam at the forecourt of the state house, In addition to the President are dignitaries such as Vice-President Dr Bawumia and Former President John Dramani Mahama.

The President and his vice as well as former President Mahama were seen exchanging pleasantries at the funeral grounds as they pay their last respect to the former Blackstar player.

Atsu’s wife, Marie-Claire Rupio, was unable to hold back tears as she watched the proceedings. She had planned to deliver a tribute to her late husband but was overcome with grief and unable to speak.

Atsu began his professional career at Porto in Portugal before moving to Chelsea in 2013. He had loan spells at Vitesse, Everton, Bournemouth, Malaga, and Newcastle United, where he played for three seasons. He returned to Porto on loan for the 2020-21 season before moving to Saudi Arabian side Al-Raed in January 2021.
