Actor Daniel Beretta dies at 77

Daniel Beretta, an actor, singer, and composer who provided the French voice for Arnold Schwarzenegger in approximately thirty films, including Terminator 2, died this week at the age of 77, actor Michel Vigné confirmed on Facebook.

Following the release of his death, the precise cause of his demise wasn’t stated.

Daniel Beretta began his career as a cabaret singer and concert performer, performing with Richard de Bordeaux. He wrote songs for crooner Nino Ferrer and chanteuse Mireille Mathieu, in addition to recording over 20 albums.

He also worked with Ennio Morricone on the score for the 1973 thriller picture The Relentless Pursuit.

His vocal abilities did not go unnoticed in the film industry. One of his many lovely parts was that of Lumière, the French voice in Beauty and the Beast (1991).

He was from southern Corsica and dubbed many films in both Corsican and French.

He was also involved in gaming dubbing, where he voiced Duke Nukem in Duke Nukem Forever, a parody of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

He retired at the beginning of the millennium and died on March 23, 2024 in Ajaccio, Corsica. He is survived by his daughter Barbara Beretta, an actor, singer, and creative voice director.
