
Former US President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against Hillary Clinton and other Democrats, accusing them of attempting to rig the 2016 US presidential election by tying his campaign to Russia.
In 2016, Mr. Trump defeated Mrs. Clinton.
He says, however, that “racketeering” and other allegations are part of a “unthinkable scheme” to derail his candidacy.
Mr. Trump’s campaign and transition teams have been accused of working with Russian operatives to sway the election in his favor.
In 2020, a report produced by a Republican-led US Senate committee determined that Russia attempted to help Mr Trump win by using Republican political operator Paul Manafort and the WikiLeaks website. Moscow has categorically denied any involvement.
Although the investigation found no proof of a conspiracy, it did detail occasions in which the president may have obstructed justice.
Donald Trump has asserted that there was a Democratic plot to destabilize his presidency by implying that his campaign had sinister ties to Russia on numerous occasions.
Now he’s putting his money where his mouth is by hiring lawyers.
