Ghanaian WNBA star Skylar Diggins has become one of the most prominent figures in women’s basketball since being selected as the third overall pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft.

However, many are also curious about her husband, Daniel Smith.

Skylar Diggins and Daniel Smith tied the knot in 2017 and have been together since 2014. Daniel, a native of South Bend, Indiana, was born on July 16, 1991, to Vicky and Robert Smith. He attended Clay High School and later pursued his studies at the University of Notre Dame. While at Notre Dame, Daniel excelled in football until an ankle fracture forced him to shift his focus to his passion for art.

Daniel began his art career by selling his artwork online and designing logos for clothing brands. He now owns Doperman Studios in Dallas, Texas, and his work has been showcased at the Life is Beautiful music and art festival. His art career has brought him considerable wealth, with a net worth of $400 thousand dollars.

Skylar and Daniel got married in April 2019 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Following their union, Skylar changed her jersey name to Diggins-Smith in honor of her husband. The couple has since welcomed two children. In 2019, Skylar gave birth to their son, Seven, and they welcomed a daughter in 2023. Skylar has spoken about Daniel’s hands-on approach to parenting, revealing that he takes care of their children while she is away for basketball season.

Despite Skylar’s demanding career in basketball, she has always known that she wanted to be a mother, wanting her children to witness her pursuing her dreams. The couple prefers to keep their children away from the limelight, choosing not to disclose much about their identities publicly. Skylar often refers to Daniel as “the biggest part of my support system,” highlighting the strong bond they share as a couple and as parents.
