John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed his commitment to collaborating with labor unions to drive progress if elected president.
Speaking in a statement released on International Workers’ Day, the former President emphasized his readiness to partner with unions in order to “build the Ghana we all want together.”
“I am prepared to work with you again to commence the vital repair work our country needs after enduring such turbulence. We have achieved progress before, and I am confident we can do so again,” Mahama stated.
He highlighted the importance of his proposed 24-hour economic policy in shaping a brighter future for Ghana and securing the present and future of workers, particularly in relation to SSNIT pensions.
Mahama called on all Ghanaians to support his vision, which aims to revitalize the job market and promote sustainable development. He believes that adopting a 24-hour economic model will help diversify the economy and empower the workforce by offering more flexible work schedules.
The NDC flagbearer also criticized the current state of the Ghanaian economy under the current administration, citing corruption, high unemployment rates, and general incompetence as major challenges faced by workers.
As the country gears up for the December 7 elections, Mahama urged Ghanaians to prioritize peace and unity throughout the electoral process and to ensure that workers’ rights are upheld.
“Let’s commit to ensuring that our upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections are conducted peacefully and fairly, with a steadfast focus on upholding workers’ rights,” Mahama advised.
He concluded by encouraging Ghanaians to unite for a common goal of progress and development, emphasizing the need for a collective effort to steer the nation in the right direction.
