The Performance Tracker recently launched by the government has received both praise and criticism, with Sissala East lawmaker Amidu Issahaku Chinnia emphasizing its importance despite 67 identified errors.
During an interview on TV3’s Key Points show, Chinnia highlighted the significance of the tracker in enhancing governance, stating that the errors identified do not diminish its value. He acknowledged that mistakes happen, but the overall purpose of the tracker remains crucial.
The Information Ministry swiftly responded to the errors, rectifying the 67 wrong entries within 72 hours of the platform’s launch. The ministry also expressed appreciation for the public’s scrutiny and interest in the tracker, emphasizing the importance of citizen engagement in ensuring accuracy and integrity.
In addition to correcting the errors, the Ministry acknowledged that 74 projects were initially omitted from the platform but have since been included. The Performance Tracker aims to promote transparency and accountability in infrastructure projects nationwide.
Minister of Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, highlighted the tracker’s role in ensuring accountability and transparency in project execution. With over 13,000 projects listed on the platform, Oppong Nkrumah emphasized its importance in tracking project progress and delivery.
The tracker is an upgraded version of the Delivery Tracker unveiled by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in 2020, with enhancements to track various projects across the country. Despite the initial errors, the government remains committed to utilizing the Performance Tracker for efficient project monitoring and reporting.
