Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, declared on Friday that, should Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis decide to run for president in 2024, he will back DeSantis.
In response to a tweet on how the political Left erupted in anger over Musk allowing former President Donald Trump back on the platform after he was banned in January 2021, Musk posted the comments on his social media platform.
“I’m fine with Trump not tweeting,” Musk said.
“The important thing is that Twitter correct a grave mistake in banning his account, despite no violation of the law or terms of service. Deplatforming a sitting President undermined public trust in Twitter for half of America.”
Musk hinted at DeSantis as the candidate he wanted to see become the next president back in June, but he refrained from endorsing him fully at the time.
After tweeting that he had supported the Republican candidate who made history in south Texas on Tuesday night, Musk made the admission.
“I voted for Mayra Flores – first time I ever voted Republican,” Musk tweeted. “Massive red wave in 2022.”
Musk responded, “DeSantis,” when asked online who he was inclined to support in the 2024 presidential race.
