The Lebanese Community in Ghana has extended its support for education by awarding scholarships to 21 students at the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC).

This initiative is part of the community’s efforts to promote educational cooperation and nurture talent in various fields.

The scholarship package covers the full fees of the 21 beneficiaries, totaling GHC100,362.35. This marks an expansion in the scheme, which initially supported journalism students at the university for a decade.

The ceremony, graced by Lebanese Ambassador H.E. Maher Kheir and Vice Chancellor of UniMAC Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah, saw students from Fine Arts (Film and Television), Communications (Public Relations), and Translation faculties receive scholarships. The Lebanese Committee Representative Naaman Ashkar was also present to celebrate the occasion.

Ambassador Maher Kheir emphasized the importance of diverse disciplines in promoting justice and equality in society. He encouraged the beneficiaries to excel in their respective fields and use their skills for the greater good.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah expressed gratitude to the Lebanese Community for their continuous support and increased quota for the university. He urged the beneficiaries to uphold the values of UniMAC and contribute positively to society.

A beneficiary, Brillience Afrane Boakyewaa, assured the donors that their investment would yield valuable fruit to academia and society. Ambassador Kheir and Lebanese representative Naaman Ashkar presented the scholarship cheque to the Vice Chancellor.

The Lebanese Community Scholarship now covers various fields including Journalism, Law, Languages, Performing Arts, Film and Television, Public Relations, and Translation.

The group celebrated the special occasion by cutting a cake, symbolizing the unity and success of the scholarship program.
