The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been advised to showcase their vision, tenacity, and ability to run the country as they gear up for the 2024 general elections. This counsel came from Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante, a Political scientist at the University of Ghana.
Dr. Asah-Asante emphasized the importance of providing workable solutions to the challenges facing the people and ensuring that policy proposals resonate with the grassroots. He stressed that power originates from the people and urged the NDC to engage with the public, share their pain, and offer feasible solutions.
The advice was given in light of the outdooring of the Running mate of the NDC, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang. She was introduced as the running mate to former President John Dramani Mahama at an event held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) auditorium in Accra.
During her address, Prof. Opoku Agyemang promised to hold corrupt officials of the Akufo-Addo administration accountable if the NDC emerges victorious in this year’s elections. She highlighted the importance of consensus building, describing it as a key element for sustainable peace and progress.
The Professor also pledged to strengthen institutions to combat corruption and ensure that national assets are protected from exploitation. She called for justice, environmental protection, and passionate action against corruption, emphasizing the need for responsive institutions that cater to the collective needs of the society.
As the NDC prepares for the upcoming elections, it is evident that the party is focused on presenting a united front and engaging with the electorate. With a clear vision and commitment to addressing the nation’s challenges, the NDC aims to win the trust and support of the Ghanaian people.
