On March 22, 1936, Roger Whittaker was born to his English parents in Nairobi, Kenya. His parents,  Edward and Vi Whittaker, were from Staffordshire, England, where they owned and operated a grocery shop. According to the information gathered, they moved to Africa, Kenya when his father was injured in a motorcycle in a warmer climate.

Both parents of the late British singer-songwriter and musician are no more. His father who was the first to pass away died on April 1, 1989, in Kenya, at the age of 84. His mother on the other hand passed away on September 4, 1996, in Herefordshire, England.

As previously stated, the late Roger was attacked by some gang men.

In April 1989, the couple was subjected to a brutal attack by a gang of four men. The reason for their attack still remains unknown. According to the information gathered, the attack was brutal leading to the death of Roger’s father.

Roger’s mother on the other hand was tortured for eight hours.  She moved back to England after the incident. Roger said about the incident, “It will affect me for the rest of my life, but I believe we should all live without hate if we can”.

As it stands, no one has ever been convicted following the attack and murder of Roger’s father.
