The leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Percival Kofi Akpaloo, has issued a warning to the youth of Ghana, urging them not to vote for any flagbearer other than himself in the upcoming elections.
He believes that another government led by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) or the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would be a great disappointment and that it is time to break the NPP-NDC duopoly.
In an interview with TV3, Akpaloo expressed his confidence in securing victory in the 2024 presidential election and emphasized the need for a leader who will add value to Ghana’s natural resources and create job opportunities for the youth. He stated, “If you are thinking you’re going to get a job when you vote Mahama or you vote Bawumia or you vote Alan Kyerematen, you’ll be disappointed. The only person who can support you to get your jobs to do is Kofi Akpaloo.”
Previously, Akpaloo founded the Independent People’s Party (IPP) in 2011 but was unable to contest in the 2012 and 2016 elections. Following the dissolution of the IPP, he established the Liberal Party of Ghana in 2017 and participated in the 2020 elections. Despite facing rejection of his nominations in court, Akpaloo remains confident of victory in the upcoming elections.
He also criticized the 24-hour economy policy announced by the NDC, calling it a mere slogan that lacks substance. Akpaloo believes that the policy does not offer clear details or solutions and is not worth pursuing.
As Akpaloo continues to build his party and campaign for the presidency, he urges the youth of Ghana to consider his leadership as a viable alternative to the traditional NPP-NDC governance.
