You can’t use context of past elections to determine what happens in 2024 polls- Alan

Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Movement for Change, has made a bold statement asserting that more than three million individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 do not align with any political party in Ghana.

In an interview on JoyFM’s Super Morning Show, Kyerematen emphasized that this demographic will vote for a presidential candidate who represents their interests, rather than sticking to traditional party loyalties.

He highlighted that the upcoming election will see a shift in dynamics, with the focus on appealing to the broader population rather than just party delegates. Kyerematen, who has been a prominent figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) since 2007, expressed confidence in his support base within the party and among sympathizers.

The seasoned politician pointed out that his relevance in Ghanaian politics is attributed to the grassroots support from NPP members, with many viewing him as their preferred candidate. Kyerematen emphasized that while some may assume certain voters are committed to a particular party, there is a significant number of sympathizers whose allegiance can be swayed by a candidate who prioritizes their needs.

As the election season heats up, Kyerematen’s approach to engaging with the broader electorate and focusing on issues that resonate with young voters may prove to be a strategic advantage.
