Woman allegedly brings dead man to bank to take out a loan

A bizarre incident recently occurred in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where a 42-year-old woman was arrested for attempting to obtain a bank loan using a dead man’s identity.

Erika de Souza Vieira Nunes was caught red-handed at an Itau Unibanco branch in Bangu, trying to help 68-year-old Paulo Roberto Braga secure a loan of R$17,000 ($3,200).

Despite the elderly man showing no signs of life, being confined to a wheelchair, and unable to respond to any stimuli, Vieira Nunes insisted that he was just quiet and urged him to sign the loan documents.

Bank employees became suspicious and called emergency services and the police, who later confirmed that Braga had been dead for several hours.

Vieira Nunes was charged with vilification of a corpse and attempted fraud, as authorities believe she was fully aware of Braga’s demise and was attempting to deceive the bank.

However, her lawyer claims that Braga was alive when they arrived at the bank and passed away during the loan approval process, a claim that is currently being investigated.

This strange and macabre incident has shocked the local community and raised questions about the lengths people will go to for financial gain.

The investigation into this case is ongoing, and the true nature of Vieira Nunes’ intentions will hopefully be revealed.
