Born on November 29, 1973, Ryan Joseph Giggs is a Welsh football coach and former player. He co-owns Salford City and most recently served as manager of the Wales national team.

After David Moyes was fired in April 2014, Ryan Giggs, who spent his entire professional playing career at Manchester United, briefly filled in as temporary manager.

 

Why did Ryan Giggs change his name?

Giggs was christened Ryan Wilson by his parents after he was born.

He decided to his father’s surname to that of his mother when his parents divorced.

The form Manchester United star is currently standing trial for allegedly assaulting and using controlling and coercive behavior against Kate Greville and her sister.

On November 29, 1990, Manchester United extended Ryan Giggs his first professional contract, and he accepted it two days later.

At the time, he was vying for the left winger position at Old Trafford alongside 19-year-old Lee Sharpe.

Since Jesper Olsen’s departure from the team two years prior, Alex Ferguson had been looking for a left-winger. Ralph Milne, who he initially signed, was unsuccessful and played in the first team for only one season.

On March 2, 1991, Ryan Giggs came on as a substitute for Manchester United’s match against Everton. On May 4, 1991, he scored his first goal ever in a 1-0 victory over rival Manchester City.

In 1992, Giggs guided “Fergie’s Fledglings” to an FA Youth Cup victory.
