It was revealed in March 2021 that Crosby had paid an undisclosed sum to Irving Azoff’s Iconic Artists Group for the rights to his library. According to The Guardian, the sale includes works by the Byrds, Crosby & Nash, Crosby Stills & Nash, and Crosby Still Nash & Young.

When news broke that Dylan was selling his music library on December 7, 2020, Crosby announced intentions to follow suit and cited the ongoing COVID pandemic as justification.

Why did David Crosby leave Spotify?

Following David Crosby’s announcement that he wants to have some of his songs taken off Spotify in response to criticism of Joe Rogan’s podcast on the streaming service, Travis Tritt referred to the singer-songwriter as “dumb.”

In a joint statement on Wednesday, Crosby and his old Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young comrades stated that they did not want their music to be available on Spotify and that Rogan had circulated false information about COVID on his show.

“The biggest reason for me selling was not to leave a huge headache for my family that would have to try to administrate a catalog. I’d rather leave them cash.”- Travis Tritt

After declaring last year that he had sold the music recording and publishing rights to the entirety of his catalog, country singer Tritt said on Thursday that Crosby no longer owns any of his work.
