Who was University of Lynchburg runner Frank Csorba

Frank Csorba, a beloved athlete and student at the University of Lynchburg, tragically passed away at the age of 23 on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

Csorba was known for his exceptional talent in running as a member of the men’s cross country and track and field teams at the Virginia university.

Hailing from Boydton, Mecklenburg County, Virginia, Csorba had a successful running career both in high school and at the collegiate level.

He was a graduate student studying public health with an undergraduate degree in criminology.

Csorba achieved multiple accolades during his time as a runner, including winning the NCAA Division III national championship in early March 2024 as part of the University of Lynchburg’s distance medley relay team.

He also earned the title of Division III athlete of the week by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The university’s distance program and athletics department paid tribute to Csorba on social media, highlighting his impact as a teammate, brother, and friend. They described him as a champion, warrior, and leader who brought joy and positivity to all those around him.

A vigil was held in honor of Csorba on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Shellenberger Field to celebrate his life and legacy.

The University of Lynchburg community mourns the loss of this remarkable young man and extends their condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.
