The issue of personality assassination is gaining roots in Ghana show business of late. The entertainment industry has seen some top personalities condemn good or sensible views of fellows (who haven’t hit the limelight).

Just yesterday (June 1), Ghanaian rap artiste, Edem, slammed a fan and social media commentator, Kelly Nii Mensa Lartey, for chastising his latest song releases. He even started his unnecessary response by questioning his personality saying “Whothe hell is Kelly Mensa and why does he suggest I should do things like anotherartiste?”.

This isn’t the first time we are witnessing this scenario. It could be recalled that, budding female Gospel musician, Naa Mercy, who chastised fellow musician SP Kofi Sarpong for singing Kofi Kinaata’s “Susuka” is in the news over his personality. According to her, the SP Sarpong’s act over the weekend at an event was ‘unholy because God is a jealous God’. In response, SP’s manager Kwesi Ernest came out to describe Mercy’s act as ‘immature” and even advised her to travel and see. Social media has also slammed her and tagged her an ‘attention seeker’.

This issue went further to the extent that, panels on the capital’s popular showbiz show, “Entertainment Review” on Peace FM refused to discuss the matter because they think she has no right to speak.

“Frankly speaking, I was disappointed in Socrate Safo and Whitney when they refused to speak on the issue this afternoon on Entertainment Review on the basis that Naa Mercy is a nobody, she wants to be talked about etc. Akwasi Aboagye was pissed and ended the show abruptly. Many ‘PUNDITS’ have uttered similar remarks and will surely not be the last. Brace yourself for more man,” blogger and on-air personality, Abrantepa Benefo Buabeng, shared what happened on Facebook.

This is not just choosing personalities over important views — there are more to it. And this is what prompted multiple award winning blogger and on-air personality, Zionfelix Nana Yaw Adomako (simply known as Zionfelix) to put his spin on the trending issue and find solution to sidelining important opinions in Ghana showbiz.

He asked some important yet complicated questions about who should be heard and why has our system become so. According to Zion, focusing on important issues than attacking personalities will do good to Ghana showbiz.

Zionfelix came out clear with no sentiments in his Facebook post. He wrote:
