Djawadi was born on July 19, 1974, to a German mother and an Iranian father in Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Ramin began writing music when he was four years old.

He received his degree from Berklee College of Music in 1998. System Shock 2 is a first-person action role-playing survival horror video game that Ramin co-wrote the music for in 1999. He composed the music for Batman Begins and The Island in 2005.

Ramin performed Hans Zimmer’s original Iron Man soundtrack, which was composed in Germany and released in 2008. He got a Grammy nomination as a result of his work on Iron Man. The soundtrack for 23 episodes of the ABC television series Flashforward from 2009 to 2019 was composed by Djawadi.

Ramin was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2010 for his work on “FlashForward” in the category of music composition. Djawadi composed the music for the Medal of Honor first-person shooter video game that same year.
