Ezekiel Elliott is a familiar name to NFL fans, known for his impressive football career as a three-time Pro Bowler, two-time rushing champion, and one-time All-Pro.

But what many may not know is the story behind the man himself.

Born on July 22, 1995, in Alton, Illinois, Ezekiel was raised by two former student-athletes, Stacy Elliott and Dawn Huff Elliott. The couple met while they were both student-athletes at the University of Missouri. Stacy, a college football player, later went on to assist Ohio State in recruiting players and currently runs a sports management agency named The Fifth Down. Dawn, on the other hand, was a standout three-sport athlete in high school and a track and field star at the University of Missouri.

The athletic genes were clearly passed down to their children as well. Ezekiel’s two sisters are also athletes, with Lailah Elliott being a former track and field team member at Ohio State University and their youngest daughter currently on her high school track and field team.

Ezekiel himself was the fourth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys and played with the team until his release in 2023. He then signed a one-year deal with the New England Patriots before being resigned by the Cowboys in 2024 after they did not select a running back in the draft.

The one-year contract is worth $3 million with $2 million guaranteed, solidifying Ezekiel’s return to the team where he made a name for himself in the league.

The Elliott family continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the world of sports, with Ezekiel carrying on the legacy of his accomplished parents.
