Dianne Feinstein whose full name was Dianne Goldman Berman Feinstein, was born on June 22, 1933, in San Francisco, California, U.S., and died on September 28, 2023. She was elected to the Senate of California in a special election in 1992 and is currently completing her sixth term. In 1951, she graduated from Convent of the Sacred Heart, and in 1955, she earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Stanford University.

Throughout her entire tenure in the Senate, she has represented the state as the senior senator. She served as San Francisco’s mayor for three terms, beginning in 1978 and ending in 1988. Feinstein served as a fellow at the Coro Foundation in San Francisco from 1955 to 1956. In 1960, she was chosen to serve on the California Women’s Parole Board by Governor Pat Brown. She was a board member up until 1966.

Feinstein wrote the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban. She presided over a presidential inauguration in the United States and was the first woman to serve as chair of both the Senate Intelligence Committee and Rules Committee. Feinstein presided over the Senate Intelligence Committee from 2009 until 2015. She held the position of ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee from 2017 to 2021.
