Marlon Brando was an American actor who lived from April 3, 1924, to July 1, 2004. He was named one of the most significant actors of the twentieth century and garnered various honors throughout his career.

Brando received two Academy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, one Cannes Film Festival Award, and three BAFTA Awards.

Brando died at UCLA Medical Center from respiratory failure caused by pulmonary fibrosis and congestive heart failure. His counsel initially refused to divulge the cause of death to the general public.

He cited some strange and unfounded privacy concerns as his reason but he was later compelled to divulge the information.

Brando’s ashes were strewn with those of his good friend Wally Cox in Tahiti and Death Valley to honor their wishes.

Brando: The Documentary, a 165-minute biopic created by Mike Medavoy for Turner Classic Movies, was released in 2007.
