The Ministry of Health in Ghana has taken steps to address the concerns raised by rotational nurses, the midwifery association, and unemployed nurses regarding unpaid allowances and job opportunities.
This comes after a joint demonstration by these groups in Accra on Tuesday.
Isaac Offei Baah, the Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Health, assured the public that efforts are being made to facilitate the recruitment of health personnel and ensure that all outstanding allowances are paid. He explained that the Ministry of Health is unable to hire new staff without the necessary clearance from the Ministry of Finance, but they are working diligently to obtain this clearance and address the issues raised by the nurses.
Baah also mentioned that the Ministry of Health has provided evidence to show that they have forwarded the list of nurses in need of employment to the Minister of Finance. He emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring the recruitment and posting of all eligible nurses.
This statement from the Ministry of Health comes as a reassurance to the nurses who have been advocating for their rights and seeking employment opportunities. It demonstrates a commitment to resolving the issues at hand and addressing the concerns of the healthcare workers in the country.
