Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has taken a bold step by petitioning the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to investigate a questionable ambulance spare parts deal worth $34.9 million. Ablakwa’s main goal is to halt the payment of $24.9 million that is pending in this controversial deal involving Service Ghana Auto Group Limited.
During an interview on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Ablakwa emphasized the need for the OSP to intervene and address possible corruption and conflict of interest surrounding the deal. He raised concerns about President Akufo-Addo’s daughters’ alleged connections to Service Ghana Auto Group Limited, the company at the center of the transaction.
Ablakwa’s petition contains all the necessary information, documentation, and letters related to the deal, underscoring the urgency to prevent the additional payment of $24.9 million following an initial payment of $10 million. He stressed the importance of safeguarding the public purse and redirecting funds to address critical needs within the healthcare sector.
The lawmaker highlighted the pressing issues faced by healthcare facilities, such as the lack of essential equipment like MRIs, X-rays, and incubators. He argued that redirecting the allocated funds could significantly improve the quality of healthcare services and provide medical professionals with the tools they need to save lives.
Ablakwa’s petition to the OSP aims to ensure transparency and accountability in government transactions, especially those involving significant financial implications. The ultimate goal is to protect public resources and uphold the integrity of the healthcare system for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
