Residents in Accra have received an apology from the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) in response to allegations of water shortages.
In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Stanley Martey, the communications manager for GWCL, said that his team is putting in a lot of effort to find a solution.
He apologized for the trouble he had given the citizens of the nation’s capital.
“We are working tirelessly to resolve the matter. Yes, we know there is a challenge but we are working to resolve the matter. We are sorry and apologize for that. We also want them to know that we are not sitting idly but are actively tackling the challenges they are facing” he noted.
According to him, a major obstacle to their rationing policy is the lack of power supply. To address this, they are working with pertinent parties to guarantee a steady supply of power that permits enough water flow.
Concerns regarding the severe water scarcity have been voiced by locals in the impacted localities, including Adjringanor, East Legon, and the neighboring districts.
They claim it has negatively affected their ability to make a living, making them buy expensive water from tankers.
Because of this, Mr. Martey asked the public to recognize their efforts, emphasizing that their employees are working nonstop in the field to address the operational difficulties.
