One of the best soccer players in history was Pelé, sometimes known as “the Black Pearl.” He may have been the most well-known athlete in the world at the height of his career with 1,280 games played over the course of his career.

The son of a minor league soccer player, Edson Arantes Do Nascimento, better known by his stage name Pelé, was born on October 23, 1940, in Tres Coracoes, Brazil. His father acted as his coach, and the dedication soon paid off. His great talent allowed him to advance in the tournament, and he quickly progressed to become one of the team’s top players.
