Two women filed lawsuits against former boxer George Foreman

Two women have come forward to lay claims that the former heavyweight boxing champion George Foreman had sexually abused them in the 1970s.

George Foreman, 73, has denied all the allegations made against him ever since they first became public last month.

The women filed separate lawsuits under the pseudonyms Gwen H. and Denise F. in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday.

The lawsuits were filed as the result of a California law that went into effect in 2020 that extends the statute of limitations that previously had prevented some victims of childhood sexual abuse from filing civil lawsuits.

The two women who are now in their early 60s said they first met George Foreman as children when their fathers were boxing associates of Foreman.

The first woman, Denise, a Los Angeles resident, said in her lawsuit that Foreman groomed her when she was just as little as 8 years old and had forced her to have sex with him when she was just 15 in a hotel room in San Francisco.

The second woman, named Gwen, is a Nevada resident, said she first met George Foreman when she was 9. She claimed that he had sexually abused and raped her when she was 15 and 16 years old, in an apartment in Beverly Hills. She also said Foreman told her that her father would lose his job as a boxing adviser if she did not comply with his wishes.

When Foreman was asked to say something about the claims of the two women, he said the allegations made against him are false and baseless.

George Foreman also said, in the past six months, the two women have been trying to extort millions of dollars each from him and his family.

Both women are seeking a jury trial and to be awarded an unspecified amount in damages.
