Two gunmen on motorcycles ambushed a bus carrying roughly forty-five students from the Presbyterian Nurses Training College, Bawku, near Binduri in the Upper East.
Many students who were hurt in the attack have been taken to the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital to receive medical attention.
This incident, which is reported to have happened on Friday afternoon, comes after five people were killed in the previous 48 hours.
The two men on motorbikes ambushed the recently departed students as they were travelling towards Bolgatanga.
As per Albert Sore, JoyNews’ Upper East correspondent, the bus was fired upon near the police barrier at Binduri.
Fortunately, no one died.
The incident was verified by Amadu Hamza, the Municipal Chief Executive of Bawku, to Evans Mensah on Joy FM’s Top Story. He added that the remaining students who managed to escape unharmed had been escorted to Bolgatanga by the police.
When asked what could have set off the attack, he replied that gunfire could be heard in Bawku for no apparent reason.
“Bawku has always been like that; anyone can just pick up a gun and start shooting at you at any time of day. The individual is gone by the time the police or military arrive, he continued.
