A GH¢5,000 bail has been granted by the Ashaiman District Court to two ladies who viciously bit and battled over the disposal of waste water in Nkansa, a suburb of Downtown Ashaiman.
Police Inspector Kwajo Danso said in court that the two, 41-year-old trader Obaa Yaa Annan and 25-year-old hairdresser Lydia Koomson, had a public altercation during which they tore one other’s clothes and hair and traded bite marks. They are accused of causing a disturbance in the public order.
After hearing their arguments and finding the two men not guilty of disrupting the public peace, the court, presided over by Mr. Derick Parden Eshun, granted them bail.
The case’s facts state that the altercation occurred on August 7, 2023, at approximately 9:30 am, as a result of a miscommunication between the parties regarding the appropriate disposal of wastewater.
Annan went to the Katamanso Police Station to file a complaint after the two battled in public, injuring themselves in the process. There, she was given a medical document to fill out and return to the hospital after receiving treatment.
Following an inquiry that resulted in Koomson’s arrest, it was discovered that the original complainant and the alleged offender had fought in a public setting with the intention of upsetting other people.
