American singer Trey Songz has recently settled a lawsuit with a woman who accused him of sexually assaulting her at a party in Los Angeles back in 2016. The settlement was for an undisclosed amount and as a result, the court date that was scheduled for September 16 has been canceled.
The woman, identified as Jane Doe in the $25 million lawsuit she filed against Trey Songz, reached an agreement with the singer. The terms of the settlement state that the matter will be dismissed upon the satisfactory completion of specified conditions that are to be performed within 45 days of the settlement. A request for dismissal will be filed no later than June 10, 2024.
The lawsuit, filed in February last year, accused Trey Songz of sexual assault, gender violence, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, and false imprisonment. The woman claimed that Trey Songz sodomized her during a party in March 2016. The lawsuit also named Atlantic Records, Trey Songz’s manager Kevin Lilies, and 300 Entertainment as co-defendants.
In response to the allegations, a representative for Trey Songz denied the claims and suggested that the attorney who drafted the lawsuit may have been involved in trying to pay a woman to falsely accuse Trey Songz. The representative stated that it was unfortunate for genuine victims of sexual assault to be overshadowed by such actions.
This settlement brings an end to a legal battle that has been ongoing for several years. The terms of the settlement have not been disclosed to the public, but both parties have agreed to resolve the matter outside of court.
