Tjahjo Kumolo was a politician from Indonesia who was the Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform.

He formerly served as Minister of Home Affairs in President Joko Widodo’s Working Cabinet from 2014 to 2019. He had been a staunch supporter of former President Megawati Sukarnoputri and a prominent member of her Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).

He was 63.

Multiple organ failure caused by asthenia, lung infection, diabetes, and gout was the cause of death. 
Kumolo died on July 1, 2022, after being hospitalized for two weeks at Jakarta’s Abdi WaluyHospital.
His wife and first two children are both physicians, while his third kid is an actress and his fourth flight attendant.
He wamarried to Erni Guntarti, with whom he has three children. 
He studied law at Diponegoro University after graduating from high school in 1985. During this time, he was chosen to head of the Central Java chapter of the KNPI (National Committee of Indonesian Youth). Until 1994, he also attended the National Resilience Institute.

He was a devout Muslim who came from a religiously mixed household.

While his father ultimately became a Nahdlatul Ulama official and his mother a Muhammadiyah activist from Solo, his extended family on both sides belonged to Gereja Kristen Jawi Wetan, a Protestant church.

He asserted that his upbringing in such a family had shaped him into a religious moderate.
