Charterhouse, the organizers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs), has been facing petitions from various artistes regarding nominations for the upcoming event.

Robert Klah, the Public Relations Officer for Charterhouse, revealed this information in an interview with TV3.

According to Mr. Klah, the board has completed reviewing the petitions and will soon provide feedback to the public. He mentioned that there have been a number of petitions submitted, some of which have not been made public by the artistes themselves. The board is currently conducting a thorough review process to ensure that only petitions with merit are taken into consideration.

The one-week window for artistes to submit their concerns to the TGMA board was opened on March 29 and has now been closed. Mr. Klah emphasized that some petitions lacked sufficient information, while others provided detailed justification for their requests. He also noted that some artistes tried to use current streaming numbers in their petitions, even though the cutoff date for these numbers was December 31.

After the nominee list for the 2024 TGMA was unveiled, artists like Amerado and Sista Afia raised concerns about their songs not receiving the nominations they believed they deserved. This prompted other artistes to follow suit and submit petitions to the TGMA board for further review.

Mr. Klah confirmed that if the board finds any valid reasons to make changes to the nominations based on the petitions, they will be considered. However, if the petitions do not warrant any alterations, the board will stand by its initial decisions. The public can expect to receive updates on the outcome of the review process soon.
