The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is gearing up for the 2024 general elections with a focus on providing practical solutions to the challenges facing the people.
This strategy was highlighted by Dr Kwame Asah-Asante, a Political scientist at the University of Ghana.
Dr Asah-Asante emphasized the importance of ensuring that the party’s policy proposals resonate with the grassroots, as power derives from the people. Speaking on the Ghana Tonight show on TV3, he emphasized the need for women to play a more prominent role in engaging with the public and showcasing the party’s policies clearly.
The unveiling of Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang as the running mate to former President John Dramani Mahama saw her touch on the issue of holding corrupt officials of the Akufo-Addo administration accountable if the NDC wins the upcoming elections. She highlighted the importance of consensus-building in a democratic society and pledged to strengthen institutions to combat corruption.
Professor Naana Opoku Agyemang also emphasized the need to protect national assets and natural resources from exploitation, advocating for justice, environmental protection, and stamping out corruption. She called for a passionate approach to addressing societal challenges and ensuring that the voices of the marginalized are heard.
As the NDC prepares for the elections, the focus remains on presenting viable solutions, engaging with the grassroots, and championing a vision of inclusive governance and accountability. These principles are crucial as the party aims to secure a mandate to lead the country from January 2025.
